Unión Deportiva Vecindario (Spain)

UD Vecindario are team who play in the Segunda División B - the third tier of Spanish league football. Founded releatively recently in 1962, they're based in the town of Vecindario on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. They play their home games at the Estadio Municipal de Vecindario, an intimate 4500 ground with a couple of decent, recently-built stands.

They've lived an average kind of life, spending most of their days in the Tercera División - the Spanish fourth tier. However, after 38 years of trying, they were finally promoted to Segunda B in 2000, where they lasted for three years. But they only stayed down a single year, winning their only title along the way, and after another three years in 2006/07 they confounded all expectations and gained promotion to the second division - although that dream soon became a millstone around their neck, as they plummeted straight back down, finishing a distant last in the table.

However, they've settle straight back in and have finished eleventh in each season since their return to the third tier. Notable old boys include the Real Sociedad midfielder Markel Bergara, Newcastle United fringe striker Xisco, and the Equatorial Guinean international right back José Luis Rondo - and there aren't many clubs who can claim one of those!
